Entrepreneurship 101 – A home business course for teens!

What’s the best way to learn the basics of business? By starting your own home business! Our course was written specifically for the homeschool family, but anyone can benefit from our step by step process. You can use it simply as a business elective, or as an after school project to create a part time income. We begin by identifying life goals and aptitudes, and end with a working business – learning the basic principles of business along the way.

Building confidence and their college funds at the same time, starting and running a business looks great on a college application or job resume. It does wonders for the bank account, too.

Qualifies for high school credit

When used over an 18 week semester and worked on for one hour/day it qualifies as an elective credit towards high school graduation.* HSLDA approved, Entrepreneurship 101 Home Business Course is based on the national standards from The Center for Entrepreneurial Education.

Your teen will learn the basics of entrepreneurship and have a running business when finished. If you aren’t quite ready for a real business, a virtual business is always a great option.

No investment required

Most businesses need some capital to get started, but you can easily complete this course with no additional outlay of cash. We give you links to many free programs that you can use for your virtual or genuine business. In fact, the many free resources we give you is worth a small fortune all by itself.

family2 - CopyA great family project

Entrepreneurship 101 can make a great family project to work through together while starting a family business.  Older students can easily work through the lessons independently with little or no supervision. We’ve set it up to make it easy on homeschool families, we’ve homeschooled 4 children for over 20 years, we know how it is!

A Christian perspective

We are not seeking to evangelize anyone with this course, but to equip anyone who desires to express their faith through entrepreneurship. We have only had two returns of this course, both due to offense taken to the biblical references within Entrepreneurship 101. As a Spirit-filled Christian, we see our work as our service to God. We believe it is every Christian’s responsibility to find and develop our gifts to serve Him. Business as Missions is an awesome illustration how entrepreneurship can be an effective evangelistic tool.

Equip them to put feet to their ideas!

Maybe they aren’t interested in having a business right now, but after finishing this business course, they will have the basics of what they need if someday they have that ‘million-dollar idea’. Developing an entrepreneurial mindset is taught, and you will be surprised at how their viewpoint of the marketplace changes. Recognizing needs in the marketplace and knowing how to meet them is a skill that will give them an edge in the job market.

student - CopyA new kind of work ethic

As a Christian parent, teaching our children to honor God by” doing all things unto Him” is something I’m sure you are already doing. But have you thought about how understanding the principles of business will influence their attitudes in any job they might have? When you understand how things like

good customer service and not wasting time or materials affects the success of a business, it makes a difference.

Creates a fresh interest in their studies

Yes, you read that right. When you have actually gone through all the steps of starting a business, the reason behind learning math and english begins to make sense. If they realize that knowing things like figuring out the square footage of a kitchen floor, or write a grammatically correct business brochure, then they want to learn more. (we’ve also found that it’s a great motivator – finish your school, you can work on your business!)

Develops confidence and self-esteem

A Harvard study working with teens in the NFTE (Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship), found that knowing how to run a business significantly increased teen’s self confidence and self-esteem.

Not your typical high school course!

This is so much more than an ebook, or high school textbook business course. Traditional business courses have their own value, but they usually cover a multitude of information that is not only dry and boring, but your child will probably never have a use for. When you walk through each step to starting and running your own business, it’s not only fun, but gives your teen a taste of the real working world. It’s the one course they are sure to remember in years to come – and a skill that could come in very handy.

Thank you so much for this course! My daughter is so excited about starting her own business and it has started an epidemic in our family. The kids even try to hurry me to get our schooling done so they can start on their business. I highly recommend this course as a family!

  5. Robin Young

Hello my name is Robin and I have a few teens that I want to redirect their focus before the streets grab them. I am taking a class called improving you and it is suppose to help you find your purpose and walk in it . I was just sitting here thinking and I had my aha moment. I can take my jewelry making skills and teach the girls two things at one time, (how to make jewelry and how to market it). I was trying to purchase the entrepreneur 101 home business for teens; however I clicked on buy now it went to PayPal but said nothing was in my chart. Is the course still available for purchase? I am really excited and want it.
