Technology Tutorials On The Web
An amazing free resource that all home schoolers should check out! A tutorial is offered for every major computer program you could think of. Find lower cost versions of many of these programs by looking for older versions. They can usually be found on Ebay or Amazon. Just be sure your older edition is compatible with your computer-BEFORE you buy.

Can’t afford Microsoft Office? Try Open Office – It’s Free!
Mozilla (creators of the Firefox browser) offers their versions of Word, Excel and more. It’s called Open Office and it is completely free. You can learn the basics of creating spreadsheets and Powerpoint-type applications if the ‘name brand’ versions are out of your price range. I’ve found that most Excel files that are sent to me can be opened by Open Office’s version. It’s a starting place at a bargain price!

Investopedia – The No-Risk Way to Play The Stock Market
How would you like to have $100,000 to play the stock market?
Want to see how you would do if you had $100,000 to invest in the stock market, but don’t want to lose any money? That’s what Investopedia’s Stock Simulator lets you do, using real-time stats from Wall Street.
It’s a tremendous teaching tool, with graphs and information on the stocks you buy and more. Can be used by beginners, but offers challenges for the advanced. It’s free to use, with no catches, aside from some emails they may send you rather frequently. It’s a free service, so they hope to sell you something along the way, but there is no obligation.
Along with the stock simulator, they offer tutorials, an investor’s dictionary, exam prep, and various calculators. You can also sign up for their free newsletter, free reports and an incredible assortment of tools for the investor (or investor wanna-be). This program was instrumental in my son’s ‘Cum Laude BS in Finance’! He loved it. And it’s all free. (However, laden with ads, of course)
-Keep checking back, we’re adding more free stuff every week!
